Abstract: In The German Ideology,Marx used nearly seventy percent of the book to criticize Stirner, whose "Einzige" stimulated Marx’s further definition that the first premise of human history is"the reality of the individual". Stirner’s critique of Feuerbach also provided the theoretical guidance for Marx to be separate from Feuerbach and even Germany’s classical philosophy. In this sense,Stirner had an important influence on the development of Marxist philosophy. Through textual analysis, this paper interprets Marx’s criticism of "Einzige" to provide a theoretical reference for the comprehensive understanding of Marx’s historical materialism.
