Abstract: With the advancement of Socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era,modern lifestyle with scientific technology as its core has rocketed in China. Economics in the ethnic areas have also entered a stage that is marked by swift,stable and sustainable development. Especially with the improvement of ethnic people’s living conditions and the local natural environment,the wide spread of national-language-based media like television,audio broadcast,and portable electronic devices such as smart phones, ethnic minority people’s life has been dramatically improved. Meanwhile,their ethnic languages and traditional lifestyles are simultaneously facing challenges. Some ethnic languages are even facing disappearance. Therefore, government departments and local governments have all issued edicts and introduced policies in order to rescue endangered languages and revitalize traditions valued by local people. These endeavors have engendered preliminary achievements. This essay focuses on academic issues related to ways of better safeguarding endangered ethnic languages and cultures in the new era.
