Abstract: Glioma is the most common and deadly tumor in primary CNS tumors. Despite an increasing emphasis on developing new therapies for malignant gliomas, they are still among the most intractable tumors nowadays. Numerous candidate drugs fail at late stages in their clinical trials, after showing promising preclinical results, which prompt the essential of improving animal models for evaluation. With the development of pharmacology, pharmaceutics and molecular biology, new approaches need more scientific, repeatable animal models for understanding the pathogenesis of glioma and the evaluation of drug efficacy. This review presented recent development in methods of treating glioma and animal modeling of glioma.
