Abstract: The oxidation behavior and mechanism of Ti-34Al, Ti-34Al-0.5Sb-0.03Mo, Ti-34Al-1.0Sb0.07Mo alloys at 900 ℃ were studied. After combined addition with Sb and Mo, the oxidationresistance of the TiAl alloys becomes worse. This is caused by the oxidation of Mo and theformation of volatile MoO3. The oxidation of the three alloys obeys the cycle ofoxidation-spalling. The average thickness of the residual oxide film decreases with increasingalloying elements content. N0 elementS enrichment occurred in the matrix. Alloy addition canaccelerate the oxide fi1m transition from stage one to stage two of the TiAl alloy oxidation andprocess to reach equilibrium between oxidation and spalling.
