Abstract: A revision of "Flemings' Formula" for local solute redistribution was made based on an analysis of the process of solute transfer at solid-liquid interface during solidification. In the revised formula diffusion in solid is taken into account, and some parameters such as velocity of liquid(V)and shrinkage coefficient (β) are included. Therefore the revised formula can be used to calculate both micro and macro—segregation and to estimate the educt amount of the minor phase under the condition of non-equilibrium freezing and the non-equilibrium eutectic more accurately.
